Snap doesn't allow me to place text (component designator/ values) exactly where I want it. I can't find a way to turn snap off???

Welcome to the forum Ed!

Like you, I find the component text snap to be too coarse. At present there is no way to turn off text snap.

I have planned to change the snap increment to half-cells, which is probably all we need. I can't promise when that feature will get added.

Yes half cell would do. Bit of a hack but I find a leading full stop works most of the time for me.
