Importing Netlists with components from Easy_PC
Aug 12th, 2007 at 11:15am

Hi,

I am a new user to VeeCAD and think it's a great package.
However when I import  netlists generated by Easy-PC, the outlines are not "seen".
Everything else seems okay, but I need the outlines to imported as well.
When I look at the netlist generated is does contain the outlines, such as "DIP8" etc.

I really want to make good use of VeeCAD as it will help greatly.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.
(Attached is a simple netlist file.)

Thanks in advance.
(I am using the commercial version)

For Easy-PC, the procedure is..

1. In Easy-PC, select "Generic Format" and check "Include Components" when generating the netlist.

2. In VeeCAD, select the "EasyPC-Generic" netlist format on the Import screen.

I downloaded your file "Fsk.net" and VeeCAD imported it with components correctly identified, so I think you got Step 1 right and you have a good netlist.

After I imported into VeeCAD, Board -> Outlines and Board -> Components showed all your outlines and components.  VeeCAD doesn't know the correct shapes for the outlines, but they are present ready for you to edit the shapes.

You have 5 different outline shapes to define, so that will only take a minute or two.  On the VeeCAD menu, do Board -> Outlines and define shapes for the 5 outlines listed there - when you close that screen, you will see all your parts ready on the board.  Later on, you can store your favourite outline shapes in an outlines library of your own, but for now, just define the shapes on the fly.

Mike, if you still have trouble, please post again or email.
