Two related queries

VCAD:   Is it possible to find the pin number of a component pin.

TINYCAD:  How do you find pin 1 on a two lead component? TC doesn't seem to display pin numbers on these

Hello David

Pin Numbers in VeeCAD - click on the pin and read pin name in the status bar at the bottom of the window.

Pin Numbers in TinyCAD - I don't think the TinyCAD can show you the status of a pin. However, you can turn on display of a pin number in the TinyCAD symbol editor.
  • In TinyCAD, go Library->Libraries, and select the V_Passive library. Click Edit.
  • In the list of components, double-click "C-Capacitor". This is a two-leaded part with no pin names.
  • Click on one of the pins, and look at the pop-up tool window.
  • Next to the pin number is a check box. Check it and the pin number appears. From now on, when you place this part, you will see the pin number.
Most schematics do not show the pin numbers of non-polarised parts. However, it is easier to layout and fault-find a board when you know which end is which of a component. I know a person who modified his resistor symbols to show a tiny trangle at the pin 1 end. His PCB silkscreen had matching triangles.
