Using little scraps of stripboard (Vero)

This is not so much about using VeeCAD (though you could) but rather it is about using little scraps of stripboard that you would otherwise throw away.

Little scraps of Vero can be useful for building commonly used little sub-systems for use with breadboarding activities. We're talking generic elements of circuitry that are pre-assembled so just need plugging-in to your breadboard.

Two header pins, a current limiting resistor and an LED and you've got an LED output sub-system and all you need is a 2x3 piece of Vero if you're prepared to use SMD devices.

Three header pins, a pull-up (or pull-down) resistor and a tactile switch and you've got a switch input sub-system and all you need is a 3x5 piece of Vero if you're prepared to use SMD devices.

I've attached a little picture of examples using SMD devices to illustrate the point. You could of course use through-hole devices on slightly larger pieces of scrap Vero.

Incidentally, elsewhere in the forum you'll find out more about my early experiences with SMD devices on stripboard and with VeeCAD.

Have fun saving the planet one hole at a time!
