Autoroute not completing circuit
Apr 6th, 2021 at 12:01pm

I am trying to get a schematic to a tripboard layout but the auto route doesnt move all components and gives me lots of errors just creating a mess, I dont know if its cause Im doing something wrong or that it cant route all the components properly. Attached are the netlists for the schematics in question.

Any help is appreciated, thank you Smiley

Also realised the ground and negative power get mixed into the same conections, not sure if that is down to how I set up the power connectors in TinyCAD.

Your schematics and netlists look to be high quality. To use the router you need a good positioning of the fixed components, including all those small capacitors. I will get back to you soon with completed layouts, and will try the router over the next few days.

I can make a YouTube video of the manual and/or routed layout procedure for one or other circuit, but only if that does not violate someone's copyright. So let me know if you would like a video, and which circuit.

On the Haible Waveshaper schematic, I see some ground symbols, but the TinyCad tool window shows a blank net name for them. I will set them to 0V or GND, and all will be well. Note that TinyCAD power symbol shapes are cosmetic - you still have to set a net name.

Thank you I would really appreciate that. So I need to move all the IC and caps and the routing moves the resistors and diodes?

I have made some revisions as per your suggestions and attached the new files.

Attached are layouts for your later set of files. These are manually laid out.

Manually, the procedure is:
  • print schematic
  • place ICs
  • allocate power and ground lines and connect to IC pins
  • Use Ctrl-F to find a schematic part that connects to an IC pin - say R1
  • slide stuff sideways to allocate or remove space
  • look above or below an IC to find a free strip when you need a connection point

Thank you very much, I will give it a try following those procedures and compare to your layouts
