Bug? Can have two links overlapping
Feb 22nd, 2022 at 5:32pm

Spent an hour trying to find a problem with my project while wiring. I use an ohmeter to check connects and look for shorts as I go. Could't figure out why two ground strips were not electrically connected when VeeCAD showed them as connected. Turned out I had one link on top of another, the longer link hiding the shorter one. it is nearly impossible to see this in VeeCAD. You can actually overlap links physically if you absolutely had to, but it is bad practice.
Perhaps VeeCAD could detect this and provide some sort of a warning.

Thanks

Hello Larry!

On the VeeCAD menu, go "Tools -> Settings" and on the "Display" tab select "Lead Width" as "Wide". Now you can see where links overlap. Possibly you don't like the look of Wide links, but it solves your problem by revealing overlap.

If I need a connection that is not obvious on the screen or involves insulated wire running around the board I place VeeCAD Wire items to make the connection. Look for the "Insert Wires Mode" button on the toolbar.

I use wide links. But even then it is hard to detect overlapping links.
