Color Scheme missing, and other issues.
Aug 9th, 2023 at 11:54am

Hello,

I am using VeeCAD version 2.45.0.0,  which is the latest version.
It works well and is very useful, but I have a couple of issues:

According to the Help guide, under Settings, I should be able to select a color scheme.
But the Color Scheme selection box is missing.  Any suggestions as to what is wrong?

Two-pin components such as resistors and capacitors can be connected either way round, but VeeCAD does not allow for this, so about half the time I find I need to rotate the component 180 deg.  This is a nuisance, but would be OK if there was a hot key for "rotate selected".  Is it possible to define hot keys additional to the six that are offered in the settings menu ?

On the subject of rotation, I find that the component label does not rotate; it remains horizontal even when the component is rotated to vertical.

The diagrams in the Help guide seem to indicate that net names can be displayed on the layout, as labels placed on the tracks.  How do I enable this feature?

Thanks for any help.    Ken.

Hello Ken

I can see you are using VeeCAD intensively and noticing the detaiils.

I considered the color scheme selector to be impractical, especially once I added colored nets into the mix. I forgot to remove it from the help file.

If you click on one pin of a resistor and look at the status bar at bottom left of window, you will see "Pin 1" or "Pin 2". Net Trace highlights the strips and pins that belong to the same net. So each pin must be true to its name and netlist.

While you are dragging a component, or a component is selected, hit spacebar to rotate it 90 degrees - so two taps of spacebar for 180 degrees. If you are dragging or have selected multiple components the spacebar rotates them 180 degrees.

Yes, the component labels do not rotate with the component. When I am dragging parts around in the early stages of a layout, I like to have all labels with the same alignment.

Click the "Text Mode" button in the toolbar to place text wherever you like - for example, to label nets or header pins. Also you have the "Insert Wires Mode" to place points that are to be joined by wires - set the text of these to show "GND", "+5V" etc. if applicable.

Hello Roger,

Thanks for your reply -- that answers all my questions.
And the hot key for rotate is spacebar, which is very handy.

Best regards,  Ken.
